Thanks to the success of The Great Gatsby our obsession with the romanticized 1920s trend has had a longevity we doubt even the flappers would’ve anticipated themselves. But here we find ourselves a century later (welcome 2020!) and we’re lowkey/highkey still very pro-roaring 20s. Below some trends that are back this year:

Finally an excuse to wear your need for drama on your face – as god intended. The smokey eye has already made its magnanimous return but pair it with a bold lip and your “Yes Hollywood Wants What I Have” look is complete.
GET LOOSE ON THE STREETS
Straight-leg jeans and loose-fitting athleisure are definitely styles to take into the next decade but we’re also seeing a return of our favourite take on business casual of all time: soft suiting. Stiff and structured business-like blazers are out and softer, cozier and more comfy silhouette blazers are in. Cinch at the waist and you’re good to go.
A LITTLE ART DECO – AS A TREAT
Art Deco is known for its geometric designs, zig-zags, bold colors, and glittering gilding but drama (again) is what really make this the interior design choice for this year. “High contrast black and white is such a dynamic duo… a bold pattern, like Art Deco ziggurat tile, for a little drama. The emotional response is immediate and the look remains timeless,” says Laura Umansky of Laura U Interior Design.
There you have it. A little opulence that defined the era in your heart and home for 2020. We do have to admit that it’s a bit odd that we’re recycling the 1920s’ trends when this video is what they thought the future would look like but anyway.
